Client Websites: Design, Development & Maintenance

Next to my own projects, I design, build, and maintain websites for clients. This is an ongoing effort rather than a one-off deliverable: a website is never truly finished. Content changes, businesses grow, and ideas evolve — and I stay involved after launch to keep the site up to date, secure, and improving.

What I can build

The scope differs per client, but generally covers:

• Portfolio and personal websites — a fast, clean place to present your work
• CMS-driven websites — so you can manage your own content without touching code
• Webshops — sites with their own store, from product management to checkout
• Custom functionality — contact forms, bookings, integrations, whatever the site needs

I pick the technology per project rather than forcing one stack everywhere: a small portfolio doesn’t need the same machinery as a store. The constants are fast loading times, responsive design, and something you can actually maintain.

How we work together

Collaboration is the core of how I work. A typical trajectory looks like this:

1. Intake — we discuss what you need, who the site is for, and what it should achieve
2. Design direction — I propose a look and structure, we iterate together until it feels right
3. Development — I build the site and share progress, so you can give feedback early rather than at the end
4. Launch — domain, hosting, and deployment are all taken care of
5. Maintenance — after launch I stay on board for updates, small improvements, and support

You stay involved throughout, but never have to deal with the technical details unless you want to.

Current work

Two sites I’m actively developing and maintaining:

saltcat.studio — website for a ceramics and mixed-media studio in Amsterdam, showcasing collections, objects, and an inquiry flow for commissions.

mariekell.com — personal site for an artist, sailor, and marine biologist, combining music, research, and a calendar of activities.
